Islington Market Summer Specials

Retail Revival delivered a series of summer events in 2022 for Islington Council to encourage people to visit Chapel Market in the heart of Islington. The market is home to over 30 traders and operates 6 days a week but footfall has declined since Covid-19. Local stakeholders were keen to use events to test a new market layout and weekend and night time activities.

Our commission included:

• Consultation with traders to gather their ideas and preferences for three summer events
• Design and delivery of three themed events: a dog show, music festival and food festival
• Event planning, risk assessment, insurance and volunteer management
• Branding and marketing
• Collaboration with local business, Islington BID, youth hub LIFT, GLA and Islington Council
• Management of a test traders market welcoming start-up businesses to a pop-up section of the market
• A report evaluating the events with recommendations for future interventions

The events encouraged over 2000 visitors to the market and supported 15 start-up business owners
